The back screen was visually stunning from the 8th row. I remember during Pinball Wizard it seemed almost 3D. What a great memory.

Great time.

I think I've probably told this story here before, but during SXSW in Austin that year Pete and Tom participated in a Q/A at a fancy downtown journalism club called "The Headliners." My then 71 year old mom was a member, and she invited my brother to go with her to the event. My brother reported that Pete was extremely funny but VERY crude--I'm pretty sure he sized up Austin's establishment and decided to take the p*** out of 'em!

Great book for early life stories with Pete!

Have it. Have yet to read it.

Should have been on a Pete Solo Album with YBYB, Another Tricky Day and Athena.. would be the perfect follow-up to Empty Glass ✅✌️

Mediocre song from a mediocre album, this really was nearly the end tbh 🫤😥 In fact the next album ‘ it’s hard’ was the worst 😞 Imho of course 💁‍♂️

Face Dances was my first Who album and still one I listen to. Don't Let Go The Coat was just the wrong second single for Rock Radio. You and Another Tricky Day would have been more radio friendly.

Very underated song

One of the most underrated songs and one of my personal faves!🎶

A brilliant album and a fantastic song... Some people just want a certain Who they have in their head and this didn't meet that expectation I guess. Face Dances showed their versatility and ability to grow even if some vocal fans weren't willing to grow with them. Top tier LP from 1981 in my opinion.

Love this song! Love this album! Love The Who!!

Most fans hated this and it’s hard This is when I got into The Who Face Dances will always have a special place in my heart

Great song

“You” should have been the “A”side.

Pretty insipid stuff, as was most of Face Dances

Love both songs

great single from a great album.

Love this song!

Sounds like a WHO song.

A few of the press were not receptive to Tommy at all and called Pete a pervert etc about Uncle ernie and Cousin Kevin, yet the two tracks were Johns!!!

I love their looks here, one of my favorite eras.

I had the same ear ringing experience from the 10th row at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago (1971...?).... but of course a fantastic show!!

Thanks for these pics, I've seen The Who many times and I think my tinnitus is really my ringing ears from their shows!! Lol

Pete with a standard SG rather than his normal Specials

Concert of the day

On Sunday, May 1, 1966 The Who made their only appearance at one of the New Musical Express Poll Winners concerts at the Empire Pool in Wembley. They played two songs, "Substitute" and "My Generation."

The incredible line up for this concert also includedThe Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Small Faces, The Spencer Davis Group, Dusty Springfield, Herman's Hermits, Cliff Richard, Sounds Incorporated, The Alan Price Set, Crispian St. Peters, The Overlanders, The Seekers, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich, The Shadows, The Walker Brothers, Roy Orbison and, in their last concert appearance in the U.K., The Beatles.

According to Alan Smith in New Musical Express' review, there was one band that stood out among these great talents: "I don't know that it was music; it was more like watching violence put to rhythm. But unquestionably, [The Who] stood out as the most remarkable appearance of the second half and I say this even though the Rolling Stones and The Beatles were to follow."

The show was videotaped and broadcast on ITV on the 8th and 15th. Rumors still circulate that a copy of this show exists but it has never gone public since its initial broadcast.

Another fabulous show.

One of the classic posters ever.

When I was at this show, I was amazed to be seeing him again. I thought it would probably be the last time. I was wrong.

This show sold out after trying for months to get tickets so I ended up going to LA before this show and saw 2 shows in one night at the House of Blues

Featuring the great Jon Carin.

Wow ….. I would have loved to have seen him anywhere but here would have very special!!

A very good show

His playing on the dvd was sublime esp on outlive the dinosour

A fabulous time!

There was nothing like Pete's solo shows!

Was this the Psychoderelict show?
