On May 10, 2006 Roger joined Lulu and Robert Plant performing with the band RD Crusaders headed by Daily Express owner Richard Desmond at London's Old Billingsgate Fish Market.
Roger performed "My Generation" and "Shout".
Kevin Spacey and Mohamed Al Fayed are in the audience. £1.9 million is raised for The Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal.

On this date in 2004 The Who Concert File is re-published in an updated (and tinier) edition in the U.K
If you don't own this book, go get it....NOW!! This is the book that got me started thinking about the day to day activities of The Who. When it first came out I used to flip thru this book every day to find out what shows were played "on this date". This is one of the "must have" books for any fan of The Who!
It has sat out, next to my desk, since its release.

love this book. as mentioned, this is as an absolutely essential part of any fan library.
Of the dozens of Who books I’ve read this was probably the most enjoyable.

I was there. Pete just a couple of meters in front of me. A perfect concert. The encore was extremely viril in the front rows! I was diagnosed with a urinary infection 2 days later because of dehydradation (water bottles were forbidden because The Who were considered "a risky band"). I could have the bootleg of the concert years after.

Face Dances is such a great album. Has a couple of instant WHO classics.
Never realised Face Dances hit#1. Love that one.
Steve Winwood is the best record and it's a classic.
It's no wonder everybody always misspelled Billy Squier's name. Billboard magazine couldn't even get it right.

The greatest of all of The Who's solo works, in my opinion.
Here's the same ad as it appeared in the May 29 1980 issue of Rolling Stone. I tore it out and pinned it on my bedroom wall (you can see the tiny hole at the top); it stayed there for a couple of years. Somehow it survived a few moves, and almost 44 years later I still have it! ❤
My opinion only- Always wished he would’ve done this as Who album. Gonna Get Ya would’ve been another WGFA.
I think Roger's " McVicar " soundtrack is very Who - like as well, from the same period. Fans of The Who had to make due with nothing but three new " Quadrophenia " soundtrack songs.
Definitely, a Brilliant Album!!! A Masterpiece!!!

I was there , the band and the orchestra did not gel well , maybe because it was so early in the tour but overall in enjoyed it

Am I correct that in the UK, the word scheme is fairly neutral, interchangeable with plan? Curious because here in the States, it has negative connotations.

Review of the day
On May 9, 1970 Melody Maker carried a brief review of The Who's May 2nd show in Sheffield
"With tickets sold out two days in advance a packed Sheffield Students Union last Saturday anticipated an exciting evening with the Who -- but things got off to a slow start.
Following a mediocre performance by the Union Group, Super Fly, the 1,500 string auidence was slow to warm to the Who's opening number "Eternal Life"
However, they soon generated a more characteristic atmosphere with their classic "I Can't Explain" which possibly would have been a more appropriate opening number.
As the performance reached its crescendo, white boiler suits and ____ boots added tot he visual magnetism which is all part of the Who.
Its peak began with "The Seeker," which Townhend describes as something like a "herd of elephants" How right he is!
The undoubled climax came with the rock opera "Thomas" which was new to me but still enjoyable.
So "Tommy" ended and we were left with old rock numbers such as "Summertime Blues" and "Shakin' All Over."
The concert ended with what, for me, is the track that symbolizes everything the Who stand for, "My Generation"
Judging by the thunder from the audience the Who had not only gained many friends, they had further entrenched themselves as on of Britain's great groups. -- PAUL POTTS
