thewho.net has been a hobby for over 10 years. It still is!

Since the beginning we've offered free hosting for interested web-masters, and we've run this site without ads (until recently) or financial assistance of any kind. Today thewho.net server delivers more than 10,000 pages per day using over 1.5 gigabytes of bandwidth each day.

Over the years we have upgraded the server several times and in March of this year we moved the server to a "co-location" service to get increased bandwidth. With that came increased costs.

While we will ALWAYS continue to run thewho.net as a free service, we have elected to look for ways to off-set some of these costs. I'm sure you've noticed the advertisements on the site. These have been fairly successful at helping to cover some of the expense of running the server. PLEASE DO NOT click on ads simply to try to help increase support for the site. Only click on the links you find interesting or useful!

Over the years some of you have asked if they could help us with the site, and we've always been reluctant to accept donations. No more! You will notice we now have a donations link, and for those who are willing to be acknowledged, we will be posting information on the donations. Our "goal" is to raise enough money to cover the monthly co-location service, and thereby allow us to eliminate the ads. If you have a few extra dollars lying around and are willing to help us out, please do! We are trying to think of ways to reward our supporters, but at this point the reward will be our gratitude and, if you elect, your name on our Supporters page.

I'm French and I'd like someone to explain me the meaning of some of the "Tattoo" lyrics, at the very end of the song : "A rooty-toot-toot, rooty-tooty-toot-toot / Rooty-toot-toot tattoo too / To you"
Thank you

I don't really believe there is a specific meaning as far as the song goes. Just a rhyme.
Although a Google search of the meaning of "rooty-toot-toot" does bring up this classic movie. Maybe Pete liked the movie Smile

Suggestion for scott: Create a foum section specifically for lyric discussions?
