thewho.com is now officially up and running. I hate to send my visitors to the "competition", but thewho.com is formally associated with Pete and Roger and I think any self-respecting Who fan should give it a visit!

I expect that "competition" between the official site and this site can help to make this site better than it ever was Smile Now we've got more reason to try to find more unique and fun ways to keep you, our visitors, entertained!

The internet has room for more than one Who site! We here at thewho.net look forward to all of the great stuff that thewho.com will offer, including blogs from Roger and Pete, and look forward to bringing you some great stuff ourselves. We hope you'll bookmark both sites and come back often!

I've been a member there since the site opened and thus far it has been a grand disappointment.

Whilst I understand the issues people have with thewho.com, they just need to be given time.

Opinion was that the band needed an official website with Pete's having been shut down and thewho.com was created with a superb opening offer of AVFABSP to subscribers. Suddenly, it appears, people now want averything all at once in terms of content and products etc. If the site had been delayed past the release of "Amazing Journey", a window of opportunity would have been missed at a time when the band's profile was extremely high.

As time passes, content will be added as promised and subscribers will see more value.

What's the rush?

Hi! I am new here and so far everything looks great - apart from I got a 'you are banned' message after clicking on to just two threads (it said I had flooded the system!).
Anyway I don't seem to be banned in fact, so that is good (well it's good for me, I don't know about anyone else ...!!!!).

I just want to say re. The Who.com is that it is an OK site and nice to have an official Who site, but it is a shame they charge quite a lot to join for the full membership - i.e. permission to post on the forums.

I believe fan forums should be free, as long as one registers.

Anyway, bye for now

J

Welcome to the camp! Smile

Sorry about the "ban". Flood Control is something I am working on. I'm not exactly sure why some people get "banned" quickly. From what I've seen it happens when people accidently double-click on links. I'm installing new software which will help minimize the length of time people are "banned" when they "flood" the system.

I can assure you that access to thewho.net will always be free.

Registration is required to access certain features, but this is to prevent "spam bots" from ruining the forums and wasting my bandwidth.

I agree that thewho.com is a BIT expensive, but the CD and teeshirt do make it a good deal in my opinion. I'm not sure if I will renew when my membership expires. I am curious what other people think??

I'm not spending my money to join The WHo.com. I've spent enough $$ buying albums and Who concerts over the years. I really think that site should be free. IMO

This was the first and obvious site for me to visit to learn more about the band and their music.I too was slightly shocked to see a $50.00 fee for full access to the site and although yes you get a CD and T shirt for your money i did feel second rate if i didn't part with the cash and be blocked from certain areas of the site.I have nothing against having a paid up option and creating maybe one area of the site for payed members the fact there was two version of the forum, one for payed one for free put me off signing up and i found myself here.I may yet sign up to the site but another point is i have yet to read a good review for the site and i think thats a shame for an official site.
