In 1981, Pete occasionally used a Roland rackmount Dimension D SDD-320 Chorus in his amplifier rig. The unit mounted in a two-unit rack box, and set atop the Hiwatt amplifier rack.

Introduced by Roland in 1979, the Roland Dimension D SDD-320 rackmount chorus featured four “dimension” (chorus) modes, a bypass switch and stereo/mono input mode.

In 1982, Pete added a Roland SDE-2000 DDL digital delay unit to his amp rig. It was mounted in a single-unit rack box, and set atop the Hiwatt amplifier rack. The unit was operated or bypassed by a custom handmade footswitch, built by Ronnie Turpie.

Roland’s product description:

  • The Roland Digital Delay offers complete flexibility over all the delay parameters (Flanger, Chorus and Echo, etc.).
  • What are contained within the device are controls for Modulation (enabling sweep in the Flanger and Chorus modes) and Feedback which regenerates the signal for more intensity in the Flanger and Chorus modes, and provides multiple decaying echoes in long delay setting.
  • Large capacity memory system (12-bit/16 kbyte RAM) provides low-noise and hi-fidelity sound through full band width.
  • Delay time can be controlled by 1 ms and it is displayed in the Digital Display.

Controls:

  • Bypass
  • Input (volume)
  • Feedback
  • Delay output
  • Modulation rate/depth
  • Power
